A'dammer Storage Cabinet

Description

Aldo van den Nieuwelaar named it after the squat cast-iron bollards that stud Amsterdam's streets — that same compact authority, translated into a tall storage cabinet. He conceived the design in 1973; Pastoe began producing it in 1978, and it has not left the catalog since. The A'dammer now sits in the permanent collections of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, and MoMA in New York — a short list for a piece of furniture that also holds your books. Reintroduced in 2025 in the Iconic colorway range, lacquered MDF panels in matte tones from Fossil to Cherry, with an ABS roller shutter that disappears cleanly into the back when raised.
