BZ Bench

BZ Bench

Description

Martin Visser designed the BZ in 1960 on commission from the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam — a bench for gallery-goers to pause in front of paintings. The design read so clearly to the public that Spectrum, the Dutch modernist furniture maker Visser led as art director, added it to the broader collection in 1965. Pastoe now carries the BZ, sizes and materials essentially unchanged. Sixty-five years in, it still does exactly what Visser asked of it: nothing more, nothing less.
