TZ75 Coffee Table

TZ75 Coffee Table

Description

Werner Blaser studied under Alvar Aalto in Finland, trained alongside Mies van der Rohe at the Illinois Institute of Technology, then traveled to Japan — and the TZ75 is where those three educations converge. Designed in 1963 for 't Spectrum, the Dutch modernist furniture maker now part of Pastoe, it reads as structural reasoning made circular: three curved beech plywood panels fan outward from a shared center, holding a clear glass plane — nearly 40 inches across, barely a third of an inch thick — just over 15 inches off the floor. Oak natural lets the plywood read warm; oak black collapses it into shadow so the glass appears to float with less visible support.
